Piano is the instrument most families start with, and for good reason. The keyboard lays out every note in plain sight, so rhythm, melody, and harmony all make sense quickly.

Evergreen Studios brings a private piano teacher to your home each week. Your child learns on the piano they will practice on, in a room where they already feel comfortable.

Who piano lessons are for

  • Children as young as four or five who are ready to focus for short stretches

  • School-age kids who want a strong foundation before joining band or choir

  • Teens preparing for auditions, worship teams, or their own songwriting

  • Adults starting fresh or returning to piano after years away

What a lesson looks like

Each 45-minute lesson covers technique, rhythm, music reading, and expression at your student's pace. Teachers mix method work with songs the student actually wants to play.

Beginners usually play simple songs within the first few months when they practice ten to fifteen minutes several times a week. Parents get a clear practice goal after each lesson.

Why families choose in-home lessons

There is no driving across town or waiting in a lobby with younger siblings. The lesson happens at the same time each week, which makes practice a normal part of family life.

Every teacher is EvergreenCertified. That means each instructor is background-checked, trained in abuse prevention, and personally vetted before they ever teach in a family's home.

Your student keeps the same teacher week after week. That consistency builds trust and real progress in a way rotating teachers rarely do.

Piano lessons across the Wilmington area

Our piano teachers travel to homes across Wilmington, from Mayfaire and Landfall to Pine Valley, Monkey Junction, and the historic district downtown. We also teach in Leland, Hampstead, Porters Neck, and Carolina Beach. Each town page explains what lessons look like in that community.

Choosing an instrument and a teacher

A digital piano with 88 weighted keys is enough to start, and an acoustic upright is wonderful if you already own one. Our guide to keyboards versus pianos for beginners explains what to look for. Before you commit to any teacher, read how to choose a piano teacher in Wilmington. Adults who are starting fresh can read about adult beginner piano lessons.

Wilmington's humidity means acoustic pianos need tuning about twice a year. Your teacher can recommend a local technician and check bench height and posture at the first lesson. Parents who want help with daily practice can read how to help your child practice.

How to get started

Private piano lessons are $320 for one month. That covers four 45-minute lessons with the same teacher in your home.

You can reserve your first month online in about two minutes. Book your first month of lessons here.
